Hi Ray,

I've done some research on EyeMail and I can't find any information on how you solved the embed problem (<a href="http://www.campaignmonitor.com/videoinemail/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">how does EyeMail embed the video in the email?</a>). That, to me, is a killer issue; what's the point if the user can't actually watch the video?

Can you tell me a little more about the videos themselves? Is there sound? What is the history of the compression technology?

To be honest, I wasn't able to find any customer reviews, testimonials, or anything really, about EyeMail as a company. Interestingly, there's an open source program that goes by the same name but has nothing to do with video in email (not even a little).

There's also an issue of credibility; pretty much every online property with any mention of EyeMail was suspect at best. Even the main site for EyeMail didn't inspire confidence in any technology that could exist. There's so many things on the site that just don't work; logging in and signing up for email notices for example. Answer me this: If you have a site that looks like it was built in 2000 how can you expect people to take the core technology seriously?

The proof is in the pudding though so I'd like to do some tests. If you're open to it I suggest the following:

1. Send me an email with the complete source for a client email as a plain text attachment (including the headers if possible). This shouldn't be an issue of disclosing sensitive information because the email has already been sent and is public. This will allow me to do the email client tests.

2. Send a couple emails to eric@ericlamb.net as if I was a normal recipient. This will allow me to test the video in gmail, Thunderbird, Outlook 2003 & 2007 and Outlook Express. I want to <em>see</em> the video working in at least one of those clients.

I really do hope I'm wrong about EyeMail looking a little... off. Hell, if I'm wrong and you guys have cracked the video in email nut I'll refer all of my clients to you and become one hugely vocal evangelist for you guys (I would love for video in email to be a reality).

I just don't see it yet.

At the risk of sounding like a "know-it-all", I would like to disagree with you. EyeMail delivers 30 second high quality video or audio, instantly playable in the inbox, with no attachments, no downloads, and no viruses. True video email does exist and our clients (coca-cola, turner, ups...) are experiencing incredible increases in their open rates and clickthroughs because of it. I would like to hear your thoughts on the technology and its potential. Contact me at your discretion.
